Radula complanata

Radula complanata growing on Corylus.

We went out to visit our friends in the country yesterday and I took a little walk in the woods. I found something I’ve been looking for for a long time. It is Radula complanata, a liverwort that grows on small stems of shrubs in the understory. That means it is usually in the shade. It is a relatively common species but I did not have a good field picture because I wanted to find one with the sun shining on it. Yesterday I found this and got a nice set of pictures. Even the pictures of a plant in the shade turned out fine.
